Who we are

Demo School is a school in Lagos. This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. For the information collected here, the school is the data controller.

Our website is built and hosted for us by Schoolpager (Fikazon Technologies Ltd), which stores and processes information on our instructions and does not use it for its own purposes. Its own policy is at https://schoolpager.com.ng/privacy.

What we collect, and why

• Enquiries and messages. When you use a contact or enquiry form we receive what you type: usually your name, email address, phone number and your message. We use it to reply to you.
• Admissions. When you apply for a place or book a visit we receive the details the form asks for about you and your child, such as names, date of birth, the class applied for and previous school. We use them to consider the application, arrange the visit and keep in touch about the outcome. Applications can be checked on this website only with the application reference together with the email address or phone number given on it.
• Payments. Where this website accepts fees or other payments, the payment is made on Paystack's secure pages. We receive the payer's name and contact details, what was paid for, the amount and Paystack's confirmation, so that we can issue a receipt and keep our accounts. We never see or store card numbers.
• Visits to the website. We count visits so we know which pages are useful. The count is made without storing anyone's IP address and without cookies for tracking; no advertising or analytics company is involved.
• Other forms. From time to time the website may offer other forms — for example to register for an event, request a document or send feedback. Each asks only for what that purpose needs, and we use the answers for that purpose.

Our legal basis

We handle enquiries and admissions because you have asked us to (steps towards a contract with the school); payments and records because the law requires us to keep accounts; and safety and security information in the school's legitimate interest in running a safe school. Where we rely on your consent — for example to publish a photograph of your child — you may withdraw it at any time.

Photographs and pupils

This website may show photographs of school life. We publish a pupil's photograph or name only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and we remove one when a parent or guardian asks. The forms on this website are for parents, guardians and adult applicants; children should not submit them.

Who else sees your information

• Schoolpager (Fikazon Technologies Ltd), which hosts the website and stores what its forms collect, and its own providers for hosting and storage.
• Paystack, for payments made through the website.
• Where we have switched them on: a messaging service that sends you a text or WhatsApp message about your application or payment, and a bot-check service that protects our forms.
• Anyone the law requires us to give information to, such as a court or a Nigerian authority with a lawful request.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries and messages: up to two years after we last heard from you.
• Applications: for the admissions round they concern; for a child who joins the school, as part of the pupil's record under the school's records policy.
• Payment records: six years, as tax law requires.
• Visit counts hold no personal information and are kept as statistics.

Cookies

This website sets a session cookie so that forms and payments work. It sets no tracking or advertising cookies.

Keeping it safe

The website is served over an encrypted connection. Information you send through it is stored in systems that only school staff with a reason to see it can open, and our hosting provider keeps each school's information separate from every other school's.

Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you or your child, to correct it, to delete it where we no longer need it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere. To ask, use the contact page. We answer within thirty days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes we update the review date shown on this page. Questions about it go to the school office at Lagos.
